JAMMU: A man was shot dead today by security forces after he rammed his car into the home of National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah in Jammu, police said. Mr Abdullah, a Z-plus category protectee, was not at home when the incident took place. One security official was injured.
Police said the unarmed man drove a black Mahindra XUV500 at a high speed, banged the car against the main gate and drove in. He started vandalising the property after crashing in.
CRPF personnel shot him dead near the stairs that led to the bedrooms, Press Trust India quoted police as saying. “He was warned but he didn’t listen to the warning of CRPF security guard posted in the gate,” the Central Reserve Police Force said in a statement.
“The intruder breached the main gate and went inside. He had a scuffle with the duty officer there. The duty officer was also injured. After that he entered the home. There has been some sort of damage to the articles over there. Subsequently, he was shot dead,” police officer Vivek Gupta said.
